Your BMW manual outlines a great maintenance program that will keep your car in excellent condition for many years to come. As your BMW dealer, we use only BMW-trained technicians and genuine parts to provide the best service for you and your car. We’d like to tell you more about a few examples of the types of BMW maintenance we perform.

Examples of BMW Maintenance at Your BMW Dealer

Transmission Servicing

The transmission is the second most important system in your BMW after the engine. The inside of the transmission contains hundreds of moving parts, most of which depend on friction to operate effectively. Heat and friction can lead to damage if the transmission isn’t serviced regularly.

During a service, we test your transmission fluid to identify any hidden issues. Once we’ve checked the fluid, we drain it and replace it. We also remove and replace the transmission filter. While this is happening, other technicians will examine all the transmission components for signs of damage and replace any worn components. We then clean the outside of the transmission to prevent dirt or debris from entering and causing potential damage.

Oil Changes

Oil is continually pumped through the engine and helps to lubricate all the moving parts. Lubrication allows these parts to work faster and protects them from damage. In addition, additives in the oil break down debris that can cause engine blockages and protect your engine against rust. Dirt and other debris captured by the oil are caught by the oil filter and removed from the engine.

Over time, engine oil becomes thicker and slower due to age and the debris it absorbs. This sluggish oil works less efficiently at preventing friction damage, and engine temperature will increase as the oil loses its cooling effect. Changing the oil fixes all these issues. We drain the oil and then replace it. We also remove the old filter and fit a new one to allow the oil to flow faster and more freely.

Spark Plug Replacement

Spark plugs provide the ignition source for the fuel-air mixture in the cylinders. The fuel-air mix is compressed and then ignited at a precise time to produce combustion. Like any other component, spark plugs can wear out, and they can also be damaged by other issues in your engine. If this happens, you’ll experience misfiring or even stalling.

The plugs should be replaced every 37,000 to 60,000 miles. The exact replacement time for your car is listed in its car manual. Plug replacement is a quick and simple process, and we can perform it while you enjoy a great cup of coffee in our reception area.
