BMW X5

The sport utility vehicle (SUV) has undeniably taken the auto industry by storm. You may be wondering if your favorite brand, BMW, has gone bigger and better in this red-hot market with a three-row SUV. Your BMW dealer is here to answer the burning question.

BMW Dealer’s Guide to the Three-Row SUV

The short answer is yes. You can score a third row in not one, but two BMW favorites. The BMW X5 is the manufacturer’s contribution to the mid-size luxury SUV market. While it comes standard with five seats, you have the choice of upping your space to seven seats with an optional, albeit small, third row.

If you anticipate making ample use of your passenger space, however, the full-size BMW X7 may be a better fit for you. This large and luxury SUV has a standard third row, with seven seats in total. And each seat can comfortably fit an adult passenger. Here’s a little more detail about these three-row offerings.

BMW X5

This classic is closing in on its 25th birthday, and it’s celebrating with continued innovations. You can pick from a six-cylinder or V8 engine if you value performance, and the plug-in hybrid variation is great if you place a premium on efficiency. The tech-laden iDrive system serves up all your infotainment must-haves like Apple CarPlay while providing impressive security with safety features such as rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring.

Those seats, whether they come in two or three rows, are comfortable, stylish, and in line as an ambassador of the luxury BMW SUV brand. The high-quality materials and adjustability of the seats make every drive a pleasure. Behind that second row is 34 cubic feet of space. When all seats are folded, you can up this number to around 72 cubic feet.

BMW X7

This relatively new entrant to the full-size SUV niche picked up the baton from the X5, BMW’s first SUV, and ran with it. Three luxury trims provide the look and feel of a high-end sedan with the bonus of a bounty of space. Pair air suspension, available all-wheel drive, and up to a turbocharged 630 horsepower, and you have a ride that’s smooth as silk and as powerful as a prize fighter’s punch.

True to form, the inside’s decked out like the finest limo, brimming with luxury features ranging from a panoramic sunroof to heated front seats. Speaking of seats, you can adjust them for either maximum seating or maximum cargo. The cargo space can potentially span up to a cavernous 90 cubic feet. Net all the benefits of iDrive too, as well as an optional premium stereo system and nifty remote controlling features courtesy of BMW Digital Key.
